Roger Zacks

President

Roger Zacks has dedicated his life to music. A graduate of Northwestern University (B. Mus.1979) and the New England Conservatory of Music (M.Mus. 1982), he has performed with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Houston Symphony Orchestra, as well as the Pacific Symphony. In Europe he performed with the Vienna Philharmonic, the West German Radio Symphony, as well as dozens of other orchestras, finally spending 28 years as Principal Solo Trumpet in the Duisburg Philharmonic, the orchestra of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Germany. In addition, he was Professor of Trumpet, both  at the Folkwang Musikhochschule in Essen, Germany, and at the University of Western  Ontario in London, Canada.

 

In addition to his work as a performer, he represented his orchestra as its speaker for 20 years, and was responsible for establishing a foundation for the orchestra (Gesellschaft der Freunde der Duisburger Philharmoniker) which, under his guidance, became the second largest foundation of its kind in Germany.

 

Roger Zacks has lived in Sarasota since 2016.
